The 2019-2020 school year is off to a good start. We hope that you enjoyed sharing popcorn and learning about the first week of school. The students have adjusted very well to the classroom and the rules of our school. They are learning to sit quietly while a story is being read or when our friends are leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance or telling us about the weather. Please check the hallway bulletin board to see if your child has either of these job assignments. These responsibilities change weekly and a new line leader is assigned daily. Don’t forget to open their backpacks to check for projects, worksheets, and our monthly newsletter. We have been very busy!
As always, October will be a busy month. A highlight of the month is our annual hayride at Kerber’s Dairy on October 14. The information regarding this event is on the accompanying permission slip. School pictures will be taken on Wednesday, October 16. The order forms will be sent home in the coming days. Please send in your order form and payment via check on picture day or earlier, along with their smiles. We were approached over the summer by the United Way to offer vision screening to our students. You are under no obligation to participate. The United Way will provide permission information to those interested in participating in the screening on October 21. The vision screening will occur during the preschool sessions. Finally, firefighters from the Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department will be visiting on Tuesday, October 22. We are thankful to these community helpers and their willingness to visit.
Our Halloween Party will be on Wednesday, October 30. Students should arrive with their costumes on. Please label any costume parts that they will be taking off so that we can be sure to send them home. We will parade outside or inside and the decision depends on the weather. Our parades will begin approximately 15 mins. after each class arrives. Have your cameras ready! We will have a party sign-up sheet in the hall the week before our party.

West Hempfield Preschool does make use of the Remind app.
It is not necessary, but parents may want to sign up to receive occasional reminders from the teachers.
